Underway's Promote tab: day in the life of a startup video
filmed 9 October 2026 · 6:31
I walked through Underway's Promote tab, which scans YouTube using your ICP and suggests a day in the life of a startup video I could film and rank for, plus a walkthrough it thinks will rank. I showed the marketing assets library, the ad answers tool that clips question answers into ads, and the reach numbers it pulls from the networks. I also messaged my Facebook ads guy yesterday to keep testing the free funnel but start sending traffic to a landing page to buy. The new website is up with the Steve Jobs video at the top, and the videos to film page is still quite hard to read, so I need to look at it again.

Guys, this app is amazing. I'm telling you, I'm telling you. It's too good. So, been spending some time thinking about promotion because I need to promote it. I need to be more intelligent with the promotion. Obviously, we're getting in front of eyeballs with Meta Ads and the X Ads. We need to attract the right people. But as you know from the previous episode, if you're watching along, we spoke about how the SEO, the titles, the thumbnails are now optimized, okay? That made me think about a whole new world, which is various types of promotion. So let's get into it. So I'm gonna share my screen. I'm gonna show you something new, again, because we're addicted to adding features. So funny. But guys, let's just on a side note, I made a decision yesterday, and I messaged my Facebook, uh, ads guy, and I was like, "Look, let's keep doing this. Let's keep testing, getting people to come through the funnel, get in free, and let's see how it goes," right? We learn a lot. But let's just send traffic to a page to buy. We won't know unless we try. Do you know what? If it converts, which I think it should, like any... It's a good p- there's a market out there who need this. That is a fact, right? So we need to send people to a landing page that's optimized, see if people buy, and when they do, we need to optimize that. Better ads, better landing pages, different ICP landing pages We could go on. Anyway, we're sharing this screen. Um, didn't wanna share this. I wanna share... Hmm. Let's go through this, shall we? So I think what you're looking at now is... Okay, this is the-- I didn't mean to show you this, but this is the new website, and we've made changes. As you can see, the Steve Jobs video's at the top because I think it's so powerful. Uh, we've improved it a lot. Like, it's fucking good. At the end of the day, we need to send traffic to it to get customers, I keep saying. But what I wanted to show you guys, if we click on and we go into here, and then we click on Promote, because this is another... You've got documenting, which I've spoke about. You've got promotion. The two can go hand in hand and overlap, right? But you've got promoting as a means to go to market. And so we've got Promote, which is your shop window, right? So, lots of things here. So I think I've shown you this before, marketing assets. You can upload assets here, and you can then send them to YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram. You can send them anywhere, but these are marketing assets I've created, and films and portrait and landscape, right? So pretty cool. The more... The A- AI is so good now, you can create assets just so easily, and now I have one place to keep them all, to potentially use and, and send out there. Not to mention, they can go on my public page. But I think this is the most powerful aspect at the minute. So it's like videos to film. Okay? So it's like It's scanning YouTube for your-- it's using your ICP. It's thinking about what do they search, what do they wanna know about, and can I film a video about these things to get that traffic? So it's come up... Look, I can click read again, but I won't do that now. But it's like videos to film. Okay? So it's two you could rank for, and three that are harder. Um, it's quite hard to read actually, so I need to look at this page again. But anyway, so it's number one is day in the life of a startup filmed by an app that interviews me. People type day in the life of a startup, and YouTube suggest it as they do. So on page one right now, we've got day in the life of a tech startup, founder in Toronto, a day in the life of a 26-year-old startup founder, day in the life of a tech startup CEO. 12 months old, nine months old, nine months old, but they've got quite a lot of... Like this guy's only got 844 subscribers, but 36,000 views. So it suggests this, um, as a walkthrough. Okay. I share my screen and I walk and, uh, walk through what I'm doing and everything. It, it thinks I can rank for this. And do you know what? That's the type of traffic of those people watching that probably w- would like Underwear. So it's a really good idea, right? And I can click how to film it, copy the notes, right? Because the notes like here are gonna be above the screen and I need to know them. So how to film it is ways to open in your own words. Open the moment the app asks you what changed today and answers it on camera. So there's all these different notes, okay. Um, hide the notes, and then you can just click film this walkthrough and boom, it'll open ready to go Right? Um, and it's gonna edit it for you. You've got no-- You don't have to think. It's gonna do it all for you, which is so cool. Like the, the, the music if it's needed, the intro, the chapters, the, the taking the silences out. Like it literally is so good, guys. And if you're a founder, if you, you've got a business, you're making a business, you work for a business, this is make, it takes so much friction away for you. And then we've got how to vlog in public without fear when you film alone indoors. Like I don't know why anyone would get fear filming alone indoors. I do it every day. But anyway, super easy. And look, there's 172,000 views, 16,000, 21,000. Uh, no 213,000. That, that's seven years old. Anyway, the point is there's lots of traffic for those searches and it thinks we can rank. And there's harder ones here. It's like the process of starting a startup recorded daily instead of remembered. Lots of views there. So it, it's very interesting what comes up and gives you recommendations, and I can literally put read it again and see if there's anything more. Um, then you've got ad answers. So it's a few questions about what you're building. Each answer cut into its own vertical to post or run. So it basically creates ads for you. So it'll ask you a question, you answer, and it'll clip it into an ad. Much needed. Marketing assets I've showed you. And then reach is kind of like what you posted, asking the networks for those numbers. So it's gonna pull the numbers from YouTube and all of them together so you kinda see how you're doing and progressing. So guys, honestly, this shit's amazing. I'm joking. It is, it's not that good
Made with underway. It reads the founder’s day, asks them about it out loud, and turns the answers into episodes like this one.
