Getting paid

Charge monthly to be watched building it. Charge once for the story already filmed.

  1. 1Watch it live. People pay a few pounds a month to see every episode as it happens. Episode zero and any free samples stay open, so strangers can see what they would be paying for.
  2. 2Buy the run. The episodes you have already filmed, the whole story so far, sold once. Filmed in private for six months? That is the thing nobody can make later, and it is worth money on launch day.
  3. 3Do one, or both. They pay you through Whop; you never touch a card.
  4. 4Underway normally keeps a fifth. The first 50 founders to switch either on pay underway nothing. Ever.

50/50

Places left

None taken yet. A place is a founder who has connected payouts.

This number is read from the same table that pays people out, not typed in, and it only goes one way. Connect payouts on your Publishing panel and your series is recorded at zero share for as long as it exists. A place is not a discount code and it does not expire; it is a row that says underway earns nothing from you.

Why give the first fifty everything? Because the fifty founders who prove that people will pay a few pounds a month to watch a business being built are worth more to underway than a fifth of their subscriptions. Everyone after pays a fifth, and that will be on this page too.

What a subscriber gets

Two things worth paying for, and neither of them is a clip.

01

The series as it happens

A subscriber sees every new episode the night it goes out, and the whole run behind it while they pay. Episode zero and your free samples stay open to everyone, so the page still sells itself.

02

The run, bought once

The episodes already filmed, in order, dated, yours to release on launch day for a one-off. A buyer keeps them for good. A subscriber has them included while they subscribe.

03

Cancel or keep, in their own Whop

They pay through Whop and manage it there. You never handle a card, a refund or a chargeback; Whop does, and pays you out. Your page, the directory and the podcast feed stay public.

The sum

Forty people at four pounds a month is real money to a founder at episode twelve.

We are not going to show you a salary. Most series will not reach one and the ones that do will not do it from this page. What a few dozen subscribers do is cover the plan several times over and turn the habit into something that pays you to keep it.

Move the sliders. The number is what reaches you each month while they stay, after Whop's card processing. For the first fifty there is nothing else to take off.

£155A MONTH, TO YOU

Paid by subscribers£160
Card processing, roughly£5
To underway£0
Yours£155

Monthly, while they stay. Card processing is Whop's and varies a little by card and country. Underway's line is zero for the first fifty founders.

100%

What you keep

All of it, for the first fifty. Card processing is the only thing that comes off.

Whop charges card processing on every payment, roughly three percent, the way it does for every seller. Underway charges the first 50 founders nothing on top, and after them a fifth. Both numbers are on this page rather than in a footnote because a page that will not say its fee is a page that is ashamed of it.

There is no extra plan for it. Paid episodes are on every underway plan, the free episodes included.

Why this works here

People pay for the next episode of something they already watch.

A clip gets watched by strangers once. A numbered series gets watched by the same people, in order, because they want to know what happened next. That is the audience that subscribes, and it is the audience the format builds without a hook: episode 47 works because they saw 46.

So the free series is not the loss leader. It is the reason anyone pays. Keep it honest, keep it public, keep the number counting up, and mark the episode you would not post to strangers for the people who are not strangers.

What we will never do is change the interview to make you more money. Nothing you are asked on camera is chosen by what performs, and that rule holds for subscribers too.

Yours to keep

Free to start. Free to leave.

01

Your recordings are downloadable on every plan, subscribers' episodes included. Nothing of yours is held hostage.

02

Your subscribers pay you, on your own Whop account, which is yours whether or not you keep using underway.

03

Switch it off any time: set the series back to free and the ones you sold stay with the people who paid.

04

A price change never touches the people already paying. They keep what they agreed.

05

No minimum audience, no application, no waiting list. Connect payouts, set a price, publish tonight's episode for subscribers.

06

A founding place is yours for the life of the series. It does not lapse, and it is not withdrawn when the fifty are taken.

Questions

What counts as one of the fifty?
Connecting payouts. The moment Whop opens your payout account through underway, your series is recorded at zero share. You do not have to have a subscriber yet, or even a price; you have to have pressed Connect payouts before fifty others did.
What happens after the fifty?
Everyone after keeps four fifths, and the page says so the day it changes. The fifty keep their zero for as long as their series exists.
Monthly, once, or both?
Monthly if you are still building and people want to watch it happen. Once if the story is already filmed and finished, or you are coming out of stealth with a vault. Both if you have a back catalogue and a live series: the run sold once, the series from here monthly. Subscribers get the run included while they pay.
What should I charge?
Three to six pounds a month for a live series; higher when the numbers are the product. Ten to thirty pounds once for a finished run, depending on how long it is. You can change either, and the people already paying keep their price.
What stays free?
Your page, your episode zero, any episode you mark a free sample, the directory listing, the podcast feed's free episodes. Enough for a stranger to know whether they want the rest.
Can I still keep a series completely private?
Yes. Stealth is unchanged: nothing leaves the app until you say. Selling the run is what you do with the vault on launch day, if you want to.
How do I get paid?
Through Whop. Connect payouts once on your Publishing panel; Whop checks who gets paid, then pays your balance out to a bank account. Underway never holds the money.
What about refunds and chargebacks?
Whop handles them on your account, the way it does for every seller on it, and takes its card fee for that. You do not talk to a bank.
