Every reason not to film

Good question Well listen I have this kind of modeled in my head I think everyone means to Everyone knows it's valuable but almost nobody does And I ask myself this question but it's not about laziness It's that at the end of a day of building which I'm going through now there's so many things that stand between you and just pressing record You know and I think I've got them encompassed So the first thing it's not necessarily the first thing but the fear is you'll do it for a week and stop you know Every abandoned vlog is this like public record of giving up So people don't start because of that Then you also there's the fear of like you sit down and you've got nothing to say Because like looking at a blank like a camera is the worst interviewer in the world You know you kind of go mind blank at that stage And if you do get something down there's the edit right And that's my pet peeve And that's your whole potential evening gone Then you think like wait I can't even put this out yet Like the boss doesn't know I'm building this on the side The investors don't know So you kind of like wait till it's safe right And then the beginning goes unrecorded forever And that's the most valuable So and then in some cases like you post three episodes into silence right And then that silence makes you quit because it's all about social media and hooks and an audience And you know some like you film it like three times And the most honest version was take one But you don't put that out because it was the one that needs editing most The most ums and ahs And so we're getting so so much further away from being natural Then you order a light the ring light arrives And the setup becomes the reason you don't actually film because it takes ages to set up So you're and then you're holding a phone and you're squinting at a prompt and everyone can see that you're reading something So again it's not natural And I mean look the list goes on Every one of those is a real reason for me And every one of them is a literal design decision that I made in underway Like so it asks so there's no blank page It cuts so there's no edit It's private by default so there's no risk The episodes count not the day So like missing one doesn't break anything Like one take is the take Nothing to set up nothing to read The whole product is built around like week two because that's where every series dies So I mean I could go on and on but I think that encompasses it Don't you think
