the short version
press post and the words in the box are the words that go. not the set written a moment earlier, if you have changed them. a long post for x is split at the end of a sentence, and post to x still shows you the thread before anything is sent. youtube keeps the video when the cover is refused, and the title stays the episode's name. instagram shows a reel link only once that link is real. a landscape file is still posted as that file.
the box and the button
the posts live on the share tab, one box per place the episode lands. they are written from what you said, and you can change any line. the box used to wait a moment before it saved. the post button read the saved copy. a click in that moment sent the words from before the edit, which is how a caption you had just rewritten went out as the generated one. it looked as if the button had ignored the box. it had not caught up with it.
every post button now saves the box first, then reads, then sends. that is post to youtube, post to linkedin, post to tiktok, post to instagram, post to x, post this to x, post everywhere, and post to reddit. the same buttons on the card at the top of share do it too, because they post the same words. post to x reads the thread after the save, so the thread you confirm is the one in the box. the phone posts through the same routes. the words on the phone are not sitting in a box that waits, so the delay was a web problem, and the routes the phone calls are the ones that changed underneath.
x
x takes 280 characters in one post. a longer one used to stop at the preview, with an error, and the confirm step never appeared. a single block with no blank line was treated as one post, however long it was. blank lines between posts still mean what they meant: one post, then the next.
a post over that limit is now split at the end of a sentence. sentences are packed until the next one would not fit. a sentence that is still too long breaks on a word, and a single word that is still too long is split so the post can be sent. nothing you wrote is dropped, and a block that already fits stays one post. post to x shows the split thread and waits until you press post this to x. the episode link and made with underway still ride on the last post when they fit, and become one extra post when they do not.
youtube
the title youtube gets is the episode's name. that has not changed. the description is the one in the youtube box, with the chapters, the hashtags and the links to this episode, the series and the app added under it when it posts. a landscape episode goes up as that landscape file. an episode you filmed portrait, of three minutes or under, goes up as a short.
the upload of the file was missing the range the upload address expects, the same header tiktok's upload already sent. the refusal came back as a failed post. the video could already be on the channel, and the app had no id for it, so view on youtube never appeared and a second press could upload it again. the upload now sends that range. if the response is a refusal and the video id is in it, or a follow-up read of the upload finds the id, the id is saved before the cover is tried. view on youtube appears. a cover youtube will not take, including a 400 on the thumbnail, is a note under that button, and set the thumbnail is still there. the press is not reported as a total failure.
instagram can hand back a reel address that does not open. the button used to store that address and show it as success. opening it said the post is not available. that is a link the app should not have offered.
after instagram publishes, the app reads the media back once and checks the permalink once. view on instagram appears only when that link is an instagram reel, post or video, and the page is not the one that says the post is not available. a login wall is not treated as a missing reel. if the link cannot be confirmed, the button says so in a sentence and no link is stored, on the web or the phone. check instagram before you press it again, in case the file did land. the file instagram is given is the one you filmed. a landscape episode is not cropped and not redrawn into a portrait.
what this does not do
the press still waits while the file uploads. a long file can take the whole of that wait, and a press cut off by the host comes back as a failure even when the network is still working. answering the moment the upload has started, and finishing in the background the way a render does, is a larger change: a status on the episode, a poll on the web and the phone, and a worker that stays up after the button has been answered. that is not in this change. press it and leave the tab open until the button comes back.
nothing here writes a new caption. the words are still the ones on the posts tab, edited by you. read them before you post. it is your name on them.

will instagram still get a landscape file?
