Three launch videos, no videographer
Read the transcript
All right. Yesterday I was talking to a good friend of mine, videographer. In his main job, he does launch videos for SaaS companies, right? So kind of films people, then he adds animation, motion graphics, stuff like that. And I was basically booking him in for next weekend to come and do some filming. Um, and I know he'll come... Like, what, what he makes is really good, and I might, I still might do it, but when I booked him in and, you know, he told me the price, I was like, "Goddamn. Goddamn." Um, so it is what it is, but you pay for what you get, right? It's good quality work. But I just thought, do you know what? I'll try use Vable 5.1 and others and see how they're doing and see what it comes out with, 'cause I did try this maybe a month or so ago, and I remember I just got annoyed, like it's just fiddling, it's just not quite right, and it's like, forget it, I'll pay. Um, but yesterday I did actually create three videos that I am actually happy with, and they've cost me quite free, right? Obviously the membership of Claude, but I'm, I'm pretty happy with them. I put them on the website and I really think they do the selling. So I'm gonna see what you guys think. Um, I haven't made my mind up yet of whether to stay and create one with him to... or to launch, make some money, then invest in it, but we'll see. So I'll share my screen. Let's go. Okay. Hopefully you can see my screen now. So this is the main website, right? Um, so you'll see a bit of a different, uh, view on mobile. 'Cause on mobile you've got this template of a mobile phone on the right-hand side, right? On the mobile that's below the fold and it's, uh, honestly, it's kinda like wasted space. So I actually use that template to host a video Which I think really works. But on the desktop version here, you've just got the first video here, um, which is an explainer video telling you re- kind of what it does in a short-ish way, and it's my voiceover. Uh, and then I've got more of a high impact... That's all I can say. High impact video here, which is not gonna explain, it's just like, "Let's go." So I'm gonna play this one. Hopefully you can hear it, guys. Uh, I'll put it on a bit higher speed and we'll see. Start tonight. I- I'm pretty happy with that, to be honest. As I say, it's quote, it's quote-unquote free Um, yeah, I think it really captures it. But it does make me think each time, I'm like, one thing I've done with this product is... 'Cause I see this on, on Twitter every day, right? I'm reading it on X, and it's like you get people in my industry, sales and marketing, speaking about editing, and it's just such a f- a process that's filled with friction. It's so fiddly, and people get so annoyed with it. And I just wanted to make this whole software, I, I just wanted to make sure that the whole editing bit was taken out. Because documenting is not your normal social media. It's not like, oh, you know, you gotta think about hooks, get 10 different hooks. Like, I wanna move away from that. That's, that literally stops founders documenting, 'cause it's like, I'm, I'm not here to hook, I'm just here to document, you know? So I've taken that away, and I've just kind of... I'm not trying to compete with other ed- editing bits of software, you know? I might add it down the line if, if it becomes really good, but still I think it's fiddly. And so when it's really just about recording, like forget if you fuck up, you just record. You can do retakes of course, but like you record and you push it out there. It doesn't edit massively. It removes fillers, removes like silence and stuff like that, but it's like really simplified. Boom, it's out there. You know, changes to your thumbnails is created for you, your titles, your title screens. You can edit all the branding and stuff, but no fiddly editing bit. So that's that, and then we've got this kind of hard-hitting video. I'll show you this. None of it existed before you started. Build in public daily on video. It's just for every business out there, you know? It's not even for just like software. It's not for just even being if your business is online. Like if you make, you, you build a shoe shop, you know? This, this video was at what? Mabel & Co., like building Mabel, which is, I can't remember what it was, like a toy making company. But anyway, really cool that y- you can, you know, in, in six months, a year's time. That's what's making me kind of excited by this and I'm already slightly addicted to it. I usually find getting into things and being consistent hard. If I really like something, I can do it, but s- the, the first part of like getting onto that journey of being consistent, that's hard because of so many things that create friction. And with this, I'm already addicted to my own product 'cause I, I'm making multiple episodes every day. I just wanna keep talking and making stuff, and hopefully that's what it brings to people. And I'm excited for like six months, a year's time to look back and have like this massive catalog of a d- like a whole documentation of what I've done and what I've built. You know, maybe one day Netflix will come knocking on my door, not literally But they'll say, "Can we create a documentary of all your footage put together?" 'Cause they'll have it, you know, if I'll go public with it all. I will soon anyway. And that people will have kind of access to see it, you know? I w- I don't think I'll even be able to stop people using that footage. But anyway, I think that the massive companies of tomorrow are going to have underway. Underway is gonna be a massive part of the next Apple or Amazon being built.
