why most people never start the diary
at 7pm, after a day of building, the list is familiar. you don't know what to say. you'd have to set up a camera. you'd film it three times. then you'd edit.
so it doesn't happen.
underway is built against that list. the interview starts from what the day already was. one take is the take. you never open an editor.
step 1 — it reads your day
connect what you already use. github, calendar, meeting recorder, stripe, whop, linear, vercel, analytics, newsletter. read-only. other people's voices from meetings never become footage.
through the day it gathers what happened, plus anything you tap in yourself: a voice note, a screenshot, a line. by evening it knows roughly what today was and proposes what tonight could be about. you pick, or write your own.
you never start from a blank page.
step 2 — you answer
at the same time each evening it asks out loud, one question at a time. it hears what you said and asks the next thing a person would ask. it stops while you still have something left, about three minutes in.
voice only, on camera, or sharing your screen. no script. no second take. pick tonight's way each evening; the episode number carries on regardless.
step 3 — your episode is ready
a few minutes after you stop, the episode is made. your answers in the order you said them. pauses tidied. card and captions on. your name and number on the front.
keep it private, put it on your page, or post it. that's the whole job.
there is no timeline for you to drag around, because you are not the editor. the polish is chosen once for the series and applied to every episode after that. it cuts on full sentences, keeps your words as you said them, and stops there.
what this is not
it is not overnight processing while you sleep. that line was on an older landing copy. the live site says the episode is ready a few minutes later.
it is not a social post generator that reorders the day into a hook. nothing is reordered to perform. the honesty list on the site still says so.
it is not a streak that punishes a missed night. episodes count up, not days.

do i have to edit anything?
no. none of the three steps is editing. if you want a fancier cut later, raw footage is downloadable on every plan, including the free one.
how long does it take?
about three minutes of talking. the episode is ready a few minutes after you stop.
what if i don't want to be on camera?
answer with your voice only. the episode is still numbered. or share your screen and talk it through.
does anything go out automatically?
no. every episode has its own switch. nothing goes out unless you send it.
