the short version

when something happens between episodes, a release going live, a review coming back, a milestone, underway now treats it as news the day it lands, not after you have talked about it on camera.

it shows up in three places: first on the season storyboard, under since your last episode, with film this. first in worth an episode, under new. and on today's context card, where film an episode about these makes an episode from exactly the lines you kept.

why this was wrong before

the storyboard and worth an episode were built from what you had said on camera. that is the right source for the story so far, and the wrong one for what happened this afternoon. so on the day the app went live on the app store, the season card still said the app store build was unresolved, and worth an episode had nothing new. the day log knew. the season did not.

a diary that notices the news a week late misses the one moment it is best filmed: while it is still news, in the order it happened.

what counts as news

• anything the app collected that is kept in the tray: a release, a deploy, a payment, a milestone, an email you forwarded.
• kept by the director, which ticks what bears on the season with why, or by you. your tick or untick always wins.
• only since your last episode. once you have filmed it, it is told, and it leaves the list.
• what you capture yourself, a moment, a voice note, a freestyle, is already yours and feeds the next episode as it always did.

it asks before it believes

the app reads the whole day, commits, email, payments, the calendar, and a line that looks like news is not taken as gospel. the noticed card on today asks: underway is live on the app store, from a commit at 19:54. is that right? yes, it happened makes it a fact for the storyboard and worth an episode, and offers record a moment now, film an episode about it, or save it for the next one. not quite drops it. a milestone the app counted itself, like an episode number, is never asked about.

that is the difference between news and a loose end. a loose end is found in what you said on camera and left open. news has to be caught before you have said it, because once it is in an episode it is told.

questions that know the journey

the questions for a topic now read what the whole record holds about it, with dates, not just today's line. and a turn, a launch, an approval, a round-number episode, is asked about the way a friend who watched every episode would ask: fifty episodes done, what does that feel like? twenty-six builds and four submissions, what did that take? never what happens next with something that already happened.

the storyboard reads it within the hour

the season storyboard used to be rebuilt only after an episode. now it is also read again when something new is kept, at most every half hour. when the news resolves or changes a thread, a release that went live, a review that came back, a customer who paid, it stops calling that thread open, says where the season stands now, and lists the event first under since your last episode, with why it matters and film this.

it still never knows the ending and never writes one. it only knows what happened, from lines you can see and untick.

film exactly what you kept

today's context now has film an episode about these whenever anything is kept. press it and the setup screen opens with those lines picked, the first leading, and the questions are written about them and nothing else. before, write my questions read the whole day for threads, including lines you had left unticked. now, when you have kept lines, the threads come from those lines only. with nothing kept, it still reads the day and suggests.

on the setup screen, built from 2 lines kept in the tray now opens the lines inside the box, with why under each, rather than pointing at the bottom of the page.

fewer failed setups

the question writer used to reject its own reply when it wrote one question more than the count. it now keeps the reply and trims it to the count in code, always keeping the question that lands what happens next. the thread summaries on the setup screen are written about the work, never about the app.
