the youtube title is the episode's own title

the short version

post to youtube sent episode 17 out under the title just chat. the episode's name, the one on your page and in the vault, is it was good whilst it lasted, failed. the title that belongs on the video is episode 17 (2 of 2 filmed on 7 sept) · it was good whilst it lasted, failed.

the share tab now has a youtube title box. it starts as that title. change it if you want a different one. post to youtube sends the box. update on youtube sends the box to a video already on the channel, so a title that went up wrong can be corrected from the episode, on the web and on the phone.

which field the button was reading

an episode has two titles, and they are easy to mix up. the episode name lives on the session. you edit it on details, under episode name. it is the heading on your page, the name in the vault, and it survives a re-cut. that is the name a viewer is supposed to find.

the cut also stores a title, filled in when the recipe is first built. on an ordinary episode that field starts as the angle you picked. on a conversation with no questions, the recipe is built before the episode has a name, and the field is filled with a placeholder: just chat, or where it begins for an intro. the cut then writes the real name onto the session. the placeholder stays on the recipe.

the public page reads the session, so episode 17's page already said it was good whilst it lasted, failed. the youtube upload read the recipe. the recipe still said just chat. that string went up on its own, with no episode label and no date, on 1 october 2026. the description under the video even named the real title. the title bar did not.

episodes 11 and 12 were uploaded earlier, while the title was the episode label plus whatever sat on the recipe. episode 11 went up as episode 11 · context: explained. the episode name on the page is folding context into today. episode 12 went up as episode 12 · gpt 6 launch videos, new watcher, and the ai now learns from how you work. the episode name on the page is the one shot launch video. both are the label-and-a-line shape, and both lines are the wrong line.

the title that goes now

one finished episode filmed that day: the episode label, a dot, the episode name. episode 11 · folding context into today. the label is the one already burned on the card, episode 11, episode 12, episode 17.

more than one finished episode filmed on the same day: the label says which one, and the date, then the name. episode 17 (2 of 2 filmed on 7 sept) · it was good whilst it lasted, failed. the count is finished episodes that share the filming date, in episode order. an intro is left out of the count. an episode that is still being filmed is left out too, except the one you are posting. a day with a single finished episode has no parenthetical. the date is the filming date, written the way the rest of the app writes a day: 7 sept, 5 sept.

the name is the episode name. when that box is still the placeholder just chat or where it begins, and the recipe holds a real title, the real title is used. when both are the placeholder, the placeholder stays, so a brand new conversation is never given a blank title. a compilation and a montage keep their own title. they are not one episode of a day, and they are not counted as one.

the title box

on the share tab, the youtube panel opens with the title box above the description. the box starts as the title above. type over it and that string is what post to youtube sends. put the suggested line back and the suggestion is used again, including after you rename the episode on details. a title you have customised stays put when you press write them again, because rewriting the posts replaces the description and leaves a title you typed where it is.

the phone has the same box on the youtube words, and the description under it is editable there too. post to youtube and update on youtube save the box and sync it before they send, so a press right after typing sends the words you just typed. the same is true of the buttons on the web: every post button saves the box first.

youtube allows 100 characters in a title. the box stops there. a short, an episode filmed portrait whose file is three minutes or under, also gets #shorts on the title and in the description when those words are not already there. a landscape file stays a normal video, whatever its length. youtube does not take a custom thumbnail on a short, and the page still says so.

a video already up

update on youtube was already on the share tab, beside view on youtube, and on the phone under the youtube button. it already sent a title and a description. it sent the recipe title, which is how pressing it on episode 17 would have written just chat back onto the video. it now sends the title box and the description box.

the file is not uploaded again. the category and the tags already on the video stay. chapters still go under the description, because they are your notes, and any hashtags you left on the caption go with them. a link or a made-with line is included only when you left it in the description.

that is the repair for episodes 11, 12 and 17. open the episode. read the title box. if the suggestion is the one you want, press update on youtube. if you want a different title, type it first, then press. the description in the box goes with it. nothing is sent until you press. the same press is on the phone.

what this leaves alone

the description box is the description. write them again still writes it from the cut. the title box is separate, so the two can be edited on their own. linkedin, tiktok, instagram and x are unchanged. a landscape episode is still posted as that landscape file. an episode filmed portrait, of three minutes or under, is still a short.

the episode name on details is still the name on your page and in the vault. the youtube title starts from it and can diverge once you type in the box. the two are allowed to differ, because a search title and a page heading sometimes want a different length, and the box is where you decide.
