the share tab says what each button posts
4 October 2026 · 4 min read
Post on Xthe share tab is where a finished episode leaves the vault: its cover, your page, the clips cut from it and the words that go with each post. it had grown one section at a time, and it showed. on a desktop screen the cover sat in a narrow column with the right half of the page empty. two clips sat side by side beside an empty third. a setting was a bare browser tick and grey words on the grey page. and there were three things on one tab that looked like a youtube button, each doing something different.
this update rebuilds the tab so every control says what it does, and nothing sits on the page without a frame around it.
every button says what it posts
the button that sends your episode to your channel now reads post the full episode to youtube. the button under a clip reads post this clip as a short, and the clip's other buttons read post this clip to instagram, to linkedin, to x and to tiktok. the episode's own buttons for the other networks keep their names. two controls that do different things no longer share a look and a label, so you never have to guess which one you are about to press.
the row of networks inside each clip card is now plainly a set of tabs for which network's words you are editing, not a row of buttons. each tab carries that network's mark in its own colour. the open one is outlined in that colour and named, and the box of words under it has the same colour along its top edge, so the tab and its words read as one thing. before, the chosen tab was a black pill, which looked exactly like another button to post with.
the cover uses the width
the cover section is one block now. on the left, on the dark the way every frame of video is shown, are both shapes of the cover side by side: the portrait one for tiktok, instagram and your page, and the wide one for youtube and linkedin, each labelled with where it goes. on the right are the words on it, the lines you said that could go there instead, the choice of a frame of you or the title card, and at the foot the one thing to do: use this cover, with the downloads beside it. on a phone the same block stacks, pictures first.
clips fill the row
clip cards wrap to fill the width: three across on a wide screen, two on a medium one, one on a phone. a card that has room turns on its side, the clip on the left and its words on the right, so two clips fill a desktop screen without each one being the height of the screen. every card in a row is the same height, and the post button sits on the bottom edge of every card, so a row of clips lines up.
above every clip is a clip and cover switch, drawn as the app's own switch rather than two faint words, with a line under it saying what each side is for: cover is where you change the still people see before the clip plays.
switches look like switches
every on and off choice in the app is now one switch: a pill that fills dark when it is on, the same as the phone's, in its own white box with a line saying what it does. burn captions into the video, music under clips, show a card before each answer, the tiktok questions, the settings pages and the consent boxes all use it. a choice of one among several is a box you press, with a round mark that fills when it is chosen.
what did not change
nothing about what goes out. the cover is drawn the same way, the clips are the same clips, each network still gets exactly the words in its box, and every post still asks once before it goes. this is how the tab looks and what it says, not what it does.
why bother
the share tab is the last thing you see before an episode goes in front of other people. a page that makes you stop and work out which youtube button is which is a page that makes posting feel risky, and posting should feel like the easy part of the day. the episode is the work; the tab around it should get out of the way.
where is post to youtube now?
it is the same button, on the publish card and under the youtube words in the posts. it now reads post the full episode to youtube, so it cannot be mistaken for a clip's post this clip as a short.
how do i change a clip's cover?
press cover in the switch above the clip. the cover shows at the clip's size, with its words and another frame of you to choose from.
is the phone the same?
the phone already says post the full episode to youtube and post this clip as a short, and has the same switch for music under clips. the other clip buttons on the phone follow.
the share tab is on every finished episode. start a series.
