the short version
a watch me work episode can now be talked over after it is made.
press talk over the film and it plays from the start. your mic is on only over the sped-up screen, so you can say what was going on in those hours, and it goes off by itself whenever one of your moments plays. your voice and your moment never land on top of each other.
why it needed rules
a watch me work film already has your voice in it: the moments where you stopped and talked, at real speed. talking over the whole film afterwards would put a second you on top of the first, and it would be a mess.
so the talking afterwards goes only where nothing is being said: the sped-up stretches between your moments. those are the parts that most need explaining anyway. three hours of an ai agent writing code, played back in a minute, is far better with you saying what it was doing.
how it works
- open the finished episode and the cut tab, and press talk over the film
- the film plays from the start, with no skipping, so what you say lines up with what is on screen
- over the sped-up screen your mic is on, and the screen says so
- when a moment plays your mic goes off on its own, and comes back when the screen speeds up again
- press stop and keep what i said whenever you like, or let the film end
then the episode is made again with your voice over the screen, captioned in your series' style like everything else you say.
when you run long
a sped-up part might last eight seconds while you have twenty seconds to say about it. if you are still talking when it ends, the film waits for you to finish the sentence before the next moment plays. in the file, that part plays slower, stretched to fit what you said, so nothing you say is cut off and nothing you say covers a moment.
parts you did not talk over stay fast.
changing your mind
talk over it again replaces the last go. take my voice off removes it and makes the file again without it. the recording you replaced is kept, unused, so nothing is lost by trying again.
it works in chrome or edge on a computer for now.
can i add a voiceover to a time lapse of my screen?
yes. on a watch me work episode, press talk over the film. your mic is on over the sped-up screen and off during your moments, and the file is made again with your voice and captions.
what if i talk longer than the sped-up part lasts?
the film waits for your sentence, and in the file that part plays slower to fit what you said.
will it record over my moments?
no. the mic goes off by itself whenever a moment plays.
