Sleeping render worker in my video editing pipeline
filmed 2 October 2026 · 0:33
Today I got Underway's render worker to sleep when nothing is queued and wake the moment you queue an episode. It took fifteen commits, and the worker lied to me twice: first it said it had stopped and stayed running anyway, then the scaler counted stuck jobs as work, so machines woke, found nothing queued and left. The wide version for the video platform is now a queued job, backfilled for the episode that never uploaded, so one press waits for a cold machine.
