the short version
every clip underway cuts from an episode ends on a card that says where the whole episode is: your page, underway.life/series/ and your name. the trouble is that nobody can tap it. instagram doesn't let a link in a reel's caption be pressed, tiktok doesn't either, and a youtube short's description is two taps away from anyone watching. so the card was pointing at an address people had to remember and type. now, under your clips on the shorts tab, there is a box called put your page in your bio, with the address and a copy button. paste it into your bio on each network once and every clip you post after that has somewhere to send people.
- it appears under your clips once your series is public, on the web and on the phone
- on the web the button copies the address; on the phone it opens the share sheet, where copy is the first thing
- the address is the same one printed on every clip's last card, so the card and the bio always agree
- it never changes from one episode to the next, so you only do this once per network
why it changed
i noticed it on my own reels. someone would watch a clip to the end, see watch the full episode and an address, and then have nowhere to go. the address was on screen for a couple of seconds and could not be pressed. the post's words could not help either, because a link in an instagram caption is plain text. a clip that sends people to an episode they cannot reach is an advert with no shop behind it.
the fix is the oldest one on short video: link in bio. it works because the bio is the one place on instagram and tiktok where a link is a link. the only thing missing was telling founders which link to put there, and making it one press to copy.
why not put the link in the post
the words that go with each clip are written from what you said in the clip and nothing else. no links, no link in bio, no lines sending people somewhere. that was a deliberate choice: a caption that reads like a funnel makes the clip feel like an ad, and on most networks a link in the words does nothing anyway. the end card does the pointing. the bio is what makes the pointing work.
where to put it on each network
- instagram: edit profile, then links, then add external link
- tiktok: edit profile, then website (tiktok shows it once your account qualifies for a bio link)
- youtube: customise channel, then profile, then links; and set the full episode as each short's related video in youtube studio, which is the link a shorts viewer can actually press
- x: edit profile, then website
- linkedin: edit intro, then website
none of these networks let an app change your bio for you, so this is the one step you do by hand. it takes a minute per network and you never do it again.
what your page does with the visit
your page is every public episode in order, each with a page of its own, plus your name, what you are building and a follow button. someone who arrives from a clip lands on the series, not on a single post, which is the point: a serial is watched from episode to episode, and the page is the place where all of them are. from there they can start at episode 0, or watch the one the clip came from.
why don't i see the box?
it shows once your series is public and the episode has clips. a series in the vault has no public page yet, so there is no address to share.
can underway put the link in my bio for me?
no. instagram, tiktok, youtube, x and linkedin don't let an app edit your profile. you paste it once.
does the address change if i rename my series?
if you change your page's address, the old one redirects to the new one, so a bio with the old address still works. paste the new one when you get a minute.
will the clip's words mention the link?
no. they stay your own words from the clip. the last card says where the episode is, and the bio makes it something people can tap.
find clips is on the shorts tab of any finished episode. start a series.
