podcast with ai co-host, and the audio interview

two of the ways to film an episode had their names the wrong way round. the one called co-host is a live conversation: a second voice that listens, reacts, asks a follow-up and talks back. that is what a podcast is. the one called podcast was something else: the host asks a question out loud, waits while you answer, and asks the next. that is an interview, with the camera off.

so they have new names, on the web and on the phone.

podcast with ai co-host

what was co-host is now podcast with ai co-host. the line under it says what it is: a live conversation that talks back. you talk, it answers, you interrupt it, it keeps the thread. there is no list of questions and no clock beyond the cap on the conversation. both voices are in the episode, and you end it when you are done.

it works with the camera on or off. off, it is a podcast in the plain sense: two voices, nothing to set up, recordable from a walk or a car. on, it is the kind of podcast that goes up on youtube with the camera running: you, to camera, in the frame you chose, with the co-host's voice across the desk. the name is the same either way, because the thing is the same either way. on the summary screen and on a saved shortcut, voice in front of it tells you it is the sound-only one.

it still uses co-host time, the same minutes as before. your five free episodes include it, up to ten minutes a conversation. nothing about how it works has changed, only what it is called.

audio interview

what was podcast, on the quick starts, and interview under just my voice, is now audio interview. the line under the quick start says it in five words: just your voice. it asks, you answer.

it is the daily interview with the camera off. the questions are written from what you picked, you see them before you start, and the host asks each one out loud and waits. it notices when you have finished, says something short, and moves on. the episode that comes out keeps the questions in, so it sounds like an interview rather than a voice note with gaps, and it goes on your podcast feed like any other audio episode.

on camera the same kind is still called interview, and it is still first and marked the usual. that is the ritual. audio interview is the same ritual for the days you would rather not be seen.

what did not change

the word podcast still means the same thing everywhere after you record. an audio episode is still a podcast episode. it still has a podcast tab on its page, it still goes on your podcast feed, and apple and spotify still pull it from there. what changed is only the names of the choices you make before you record, so that each one says what is about to happen.

a person asks, under just my voice, keeps its name, because it already said what it is: a co-founder or a friend asks the questions and the app keeps quiet. with a guest, on camera, is the one where you host and a real person joins by a link.

if you saved a shortcut before today, it keeps the name you gave it. a shortcut you never named shows the new name the next time you open the setup.

why names matter on this screen

the setup screen is the moment before you start, and it is the moment a daily habit is most likely to stop. a choice whose name says the wrong thing makes that moment heavier: you pick podcast expecting a conversation, get a list of questions, and wonder what you did wrong. or you skip co-host because it sounds like a feature rather than a way to make an episode. names that say what happens let you choose in a second and start.

on the phone

the phone has the same names on the same cards and quick starts, from the same file the web reads, so the two cannot drift apart.

what is the difference between podcast with ai co-host and audio interview?

podcast with ai co-host is a live conversation that talks back: no list of questions, it follows where you go. audio interview is the daily interview without the camera: the host asks questions written from what you picked, one at a time, and waits for each answer.

can i do a podcast with the ai co-host on camera?

yes. pick on camera, then podcast with ai co-host, and choose portrait or landscape. both voices are in the episode, and you are on screen the whole time.

does the audio interview still make a podcast episode?

yes. every audio episode goes on your podcast feed, with the questions kept in so it sounds like an interview.

does the ai co-host cost extra?

it uses co-host time, which comes with your plan. your five free episodes include it, up to ten minutes a conversation, no card.

set up your next episode and try either one. open today.
