New in underway

everything you make goes on your page by itself

the short version

once your series is public, everything you make goes on your underway page by itself as soon as its file is made: episodes, podcasts, co-host and guest episodes, the weekly round-up, chapters, the month in one film and the launch trailer. there is no publish button to remember. the card on share says on your page, and the one thing it offers is make private. the posts for a round-up, its words for youtube, linkedin, tiktok, instagram and x, are written for you when its file is made too. the only things that still wait for you are your assets: the films and images on your shelf go on your page only when you switch them on.

why it changed

rich, who builds underway, opened the round-up of his own week on the share tab and found a card saying not on your page, with a button to publish it. his series has been public for weeks. every episode already went up on its own. the round-up was the odd one out, and an extra step in a product whose whole job is taking steps away is a bug, not a feature.

the same tab said the posts were written once every answer is transcribed. that line is true of an episode. a round-up has no answers of its own to transcribe, so its posts were never written unless someone pressed a button nobody knew was there. round-up 5 had been rendered for days and had nothing to post with.

his rule was simple: if the series is public, it all goes on the page. the exception is the thing you made by hand for a different job, which is your assets. a launch film or a screenshot on the shelf is yours to place.

what happens now

  • the server checks every five minutes for anything finished and not yet on your page, and lists it the same way, whatever kind of render it is.
  • an episode or round-up that is on your page says on your page, with its address and a link to copy, and make private underneath.
  • make private takes it off your page and keeps it off. the card then says private, and put it on your page brings it back.
  • one that is still rendering says it goes on your page on its own, with put it on now for when the file is ready and you would rather not wait five minutes.
  • a round-up's posts are written on the server once its file is made, from the lines it kept. round-ups that never had posts get them too, a few at a time. write them now on share does it on the spot.
  • the switch in account, series, publishing is now called everything you make goes on your page by itself. turn it off and nothing goes up until you publish it by hand.

what still stays off

the vault. episodes from before you went public stay where they were, and a round-up, chapter or month film with any vault episode in it waits in the vault too, for you to publish by hand or not. the trailer is the exception, because it was cut from the vault to launch it. anything you made private stays private, however many times the server checks. and assets stay your choice, one by one, with show on your page on each.

the round-up's details read like an episode's

the same afternoon rich asked what the details tab of a round-up was for. it said ready to post, which left him asking where. its name field was called name, and he could not tell whether that was the title. there was no description at all, though the directory shows one under every episode.

now the tab opens on how this round-up is listed, the same heading an episode has, with a title, a subtitle and a description. write it for me writes the description from the lines the round-up kept, in your own words, with its first sentence written so a search result can quote it. the title and description go on your page and in the directory, and an edit reaches a round-up that is already up without publishing it again. a line under the heading says whether the file is made, and that it goes out from share.

under that sits how it looks. between cuts is the round-up's own, because a week of highlights can cut differently from the episodes in it. beside it are your series' polish settings, clean up the dialogue, face smoothing and the grade, the same ones as account, polish. they are set once for every episode and round-up, never per video, because a series that looks different every week has no identity. they are shown here so they are found where you wonder about them.

covers open full size

the covers on share, the wide one and the portrait one, are small enough that a word on them can be hard to judge. click either and it opens full size on the dark. the same works on a clip's cover. click again or press escape to close it.

on the phone

the phone's episode card says the same things and offers the same make private and put it on your page, and its publishing switch has the new name. a round-up on the phone does not have a details tab; its title, description and polish are on the web.

will old episodes from my vault go up on their own?

no. only what you make after going public goes up by itself. the vault stays where it is until you release it.

how do i stop one episode or round-up going up?

press make private on its share tab. it comes off your page if it is on it, and it stays off until you press put it on your page.

do my assets go on my page now?

no. assets are the one thing that waits for you. switch show on your page on for each one you want there.

does this post to youtube or linkedin for me?

no. your underway page is automatic. the other networks still go out when you press their buttons, with the posts written for you.

can i turn all of it off?

yes. switch off everything you make goes on your page by itself in account, series, publishing, and each one waits for you to publish it.

a public series is a page that keeps itself up to date. start a series.
