New in underway

everyone you reach, in one place

11 October 2026 · 4 min read

reach used to answer one question: what did each post do. it lived under promote, it listed every episode you had posted, and for most networks it said not in yet. useful, and narrow. the number a founder actually wonders about at the end of a week is bigger than any one post. how many people are following this now, everywhere, and is it going up.

so reach now opens on your audience. everyone you reach, from every account you have connected, on one screen, with the week's change beside each line. and when a week is good, today says so, as something you might want to talk about.

following you, added up

people who follow you are one kind of number, and they add up honestly. your youtube subscribers, your instagram followers, your x followers, your tiktok followers once tiktok lets underway read them, and your newsletter list from kit or beehiiv. reach adds them into one figure, people follow you, with what it moved this week underneath.

each network keeps its own line too: its mark, its number, a bar so you can see the shape at a glance, and the change over the past seven days. green when it rose. a line read for the first time says no week yet, because a change needs a week-old reading to compare against, and making one up would be worse than saying nothing.

seen, side by side, never summed

the other kind of number is how often you were seen, and those do not add up. views on your youtube channel are all time. google search console counts the last 28 days: how many times your site showed up in google, how many people clicked through, how many different searches you showed up for, and how many of those you are on page one for. plausible counts visitors over 30 days. adding a 28-day count to an all-time count gives a number that means nothing, so reach puts them side by side under seen, each with its window written next to it.

the searches you show up for is the one to watch if you write. it is the count of different things people typed into google that brought your site up, and it is the slowest, most honest measure of whether what you publish is being found.

a good week turns up on today

underway already noticed round numbers: your channel passing a thousand subscribers, your site showing up in google for fifty different searches. it now notices a good week as well. when your subscribers, followers or newsletter rise by ten or more in seven days, or your channel's views by a hundred or more, a row appears under noticed on today, in a sentence: 112 new subscribers on your youtube channel in the past week, 2,642 now.

it has the same three doors as every noticed row. film a moment about it, film an episode about it, or save it for your next episode, where it arrives ticked so the interview can ask what happened. not this one drops it. followers on x, instagram and tiktok passing a hundred, a thousand and up, and your channel passing a thousand views and up, are milestones too, and you can set a goal against any of them under nudges or as a season's goal.

it is once a week for each line, at the highest step the week reached, and only ever a rise. a week that went down is never a notification. nobody films better for being told they lost followers.

what each network will share

  • youtube: subscribers and channel views, read every hour.
  • instagram and x: followers, read once a day.
  • tiktok: followers once tiktok approves underway to read them. until then reach says so, once, under the lists.
  • linkedin: linkedin does not give apps a person's follower count. a company page's will count once linkedin approves underway for it.
  • google search console, plausible, kit and beehiiv: as they always were, now on the same screen.

anything you have not connected that would count is named at the bottom, with a way to connect it on context.

what it never does

the numbers are yours to see. they never choose what your interview asks or how an episode is cut. a good week reaches the interview only as a plain fact you chose to keep, the same as a payment landing or a launch going live, never as a reason to chase whatever did well. there is no best episode and no ranking. it is the whole audience, how it is moving, and a nudge when it moves the right way.

reach is part of series, on the web and on the phone, under promote.

faq

where is reach?

under promote, in the bar at the top, on the web and the phone. it used to sit under account.

why isn't my tiktok follower count showing?

tiktok only shares follower counts with apps it has approved for that. underway has asked; until then reach says so and leaves the line out rather than showing a zero.

will a bad week show up on today?

no. only a rise is ever news. a week that went down shows on reach, quietly, and nowhere else.

does my reach change what the interview asks?

no. the director never sees the numbers. a good week reaches an interview only if you save it for your next episode, as one plain line.
